Equity Bank Tanzania, through its Women's Plus window, officially launched the "Ushonaji Plus" a loan for tailoring equipment, aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs in the Tailoring and Fashion Design sector.
Ushonaji Plus is an asset loan product designed to empower women and youth entrepreneurs in tailoring and Fashion Design Sector by providing access to financing for modern sewing machines and equipment. Developed to improve product quality, increase production capacity, and promote growth within the tailoring and fashion design sector. The loan offers amounts ranging from TZS 1,000,000 to TZS 10,000,000, requiring a 20% down payment. To qualify, applicants must have an active Equity Bank account, at least six months of business operation, a valid Business License and TIN, two acceptable guarantors, and a valid business premises lease agreement.
The tailoring and fashion design sector is a vital source of employment and income for women entrepreneurs across the country, yet access to capital and modern equipment has remained a significant barrier. "Ushonaji Plus" directly addresses this challenge by providing accessible loans and quality equipment, empowering women to enhance their creativity, boost production capacity, improve product quality, and expand their market reach.
Alongside this launch, the bank has also entered a strategic partnership with Anna Collection Fashion Academy (AFA), the goal of strengthening the economic empowerment of women and promoting creativity and craftsmanship in the Tailoring and Fashion Design sector. The partnership with Anna Collection Fashion Academy (AFA) will add extra value for women entrepreneurs, who will receive training in finance and entrepreneurship, alongside training in tailoring and fashion design. Ushonaji Plus is further supported by strategic partnerships with JUKI Tanzania and Jack key and leading suppliers in suppliers in the tailoring equipment industry, who will supply modern, high quality sewing machines. In addition to providing the equipment, these partners offer comprehensive technical support and a one-year warranty, ensuring entrepreneurs receive reliable tools and sustained service to maximize productivity and foster long-term business growth.
