Equity Bank Kicks Off Issuance of Simba Fan Cards

Equity Bank has today kicked off the issuance of Simba Fan Cards to over 20 million fans of the Simba Sports Club at the Saba Saba grounds. The Simba Card concept is the first of its kind in Tanzania and will bring with it a wealth of benefits for Simba fans.

Simba Sports Club’s partnership with Equity Bank will make it easy for fans to access several benefits such as access to bank account withdrawals, make online purchases and payment capabilities, access merchant purchase discounts at selected merchant stores and outlets, purchase Simba merchandise, automate membership fee debits, purchase match tickets and so much more.

Speaking during the launch, Simba Sports Club CEO, Senzo Mazingiza expressed his delight on the partnership stating, “Equity Bank has fashioned itself as a bank of the people and we partnered with them so that all our fans could reap the benefits of financial inclusion. With the Simba Fan Card, the opportunities are endless as there is so much you can do, be it at the branch or equity agents outlets. We encourage all Simba Club fans to take up their Simba Fan Cards as soon as possible.”

On his part, Equity Bank Tanzania Board Chairman, Eng. Raymond Mbilinyi, said “We are happy and humbled to be associated with one of Tanzania’s most decorated clubs. At Equity Bank, we partner with key stakeholders in the community to come up with products and services that serve their needs. This current partnership is proof of our mission to support all members of the society and in different sectors of the economy including some previously perceived high risk, due to lack of collateral and high costs of serving them. Simba Club is banking on Equity’s 15 branches and 2500 Equity agents countrywide to issue as many Simba Fan Cards as possible. The Bank entered the Tanzanian market in 2015, at a time when Tanzania is experiencing significant transformation in the financial sector. Innovation is a key driver to deepening financial inclusion mainly driven by Agency banking, Merchant banking, ATMs, Online Banking and Mobile Banking.

Simba Sports Club is a Tanzanian football club which was founded in 1936 and is based in Msimbazi Street, Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. Simba Sports Club is one of the two biggest football clubs in Tanzania.
