Torit, South Sudan . . . Equity Bank South Sudan has opened its 9th branch. Torit branch in the Eastern Equatoria State was opened at a colourful ceremony presided over by Louise L. Lojore the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State and attended by various leaders from the State.
Speaking during the ceremony, Equity Bank S. Sudan Managing Director Paul Gitahi said that the Bank was committed to supporting the people of South Sudan by availing them banking services that will be affordable and accessible in line with the bank’s vision of championing the socio-economic transformation of the people of Africa.
Gitahi added that the Bank would support stakeholders in the agriculturally-rich Eastern Equitoria State. “Small share holder farming shall be strengthened with a focus to move them from subsistence to commercial farming”, he said.
He further said that the Bank, in collaboration with its partners would embark on financial literacy programmes aimed at developing an entrepreneurial and saving culture.
Various leaders who spoke at the launch lauded Equity Bank for increasing financial access to the people while empowering them to reach their economic goals.
Located in the southeastern part of South Sudan, Torit is the county seat of Torit County and also the capital of Eastern Equatoria State. The town lies approximately 150 kilometers, by road, east of Juba, the Capital City.
