What is a Cash Deposit Machine (CDM)?

A cash deposit machine is a self-service ‘ATM’ that allows you to deposit cash directly into your account, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What are the benefits of using CDMs?

Money deposited reflects immediately into the bank account. CDM is convenient and available 24/7. 

Are CDMs secure?

Yes - The customer deposits money in an enclosed cubicle which offers security. The ATM/CDM lobby is also under 24/7 dedicated camera surveillance. For additional security, the customer should protect their PIN number by not disclosing it to anyone. 

What types of transactions are possible with a CDM?

Cash deposit to an Equity Bank account only. 

How much can I deposit per day?

You can deposit up to a maximum of Kes 2M per account per day, However, upon reaching a lumpsum amount of Kes 1M, you will be prompted to fill in a declaration form as required by the law and lien will be placed to your account until you provide documentation to your branch. 

What is Equity's CDM transactional fee?

Cash deposit through an Equity CDM to an Equity Bank Account is FREE.

Is there a limit on the minimum amount I can deposit through CDMs?

Yes, the minimum limit is Kes. 50 and maximum deposit per account per day is Kes 2M. However, a customer can make several deposits to his/her accounts to a maximum of Kes 2M per account. As required by law, however, a lumpsum amount above Kes 1M will be held until the customer provides the additional documentation to the branch. 

Can I deposit money into someone else's account using the CDM?

Yes. You can deposit into any Equity account as long as you have a valid account number and account name.

Do I get a receipt after a transaction at Equity's CDM?

Yes, you receive a deposit slip. By default, a customer should also get an SMS notification on their phone. If you do not get the SMS, visit the branch to register for the service.  

 

How long does it take for cash deposited via CDM to reflect in my account?

The amount is reflected in the bank account immediately.

What should I do if CDM doesn't issue a receipt?

A customer can be issued with a copy of the receipt at the branch. By default, a customer should also get an SMS notification for the deposit on their phone. If you do not get the SMS, visit the branch to register for the service.   

  • What currency denominations are accepted on Equity's CDMs?

    Equity CDM’s accept Kenya shillings only.  

  • What are Equity's currency conversion charges?

    Not applicable as the Equity CDM accepts only Kenya Shillings.

  • Does the CDM accept coins

    No. Equity CDM does not accept coins but accepts denominations in note forms of Kshs. 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000. 

  • What should I do if CDM retains my cash without crediting my account?

    Visit the branch and provide the proof of deposit.

  • What happens if I deposit counterfeit notes unknowingly?

    The CDM will automatically reject fake notes. 

  • Do I need an Equity Bank account to use the CDM?

    No. You however need a valid recipient Equity bank account number and account name.  

  • Can I use a CDM without my ATM card?

    Yes, you can. CDM machine does not need an ATM card, it is a cardless form of ATM

  • Can I use the CDM if my card is blocked or has expired?

    Yes, you can. CDM machine does not need an ATM card, it is a cardless form of ATM

  • Can business accounts use CDMs?

    Yes, they can. Businesses and all types of organizational accounts can receive deposits via CDM as long as the Equity Bank account number is valid.

  • Are CDMs accessible to people with disabilities?

    Equity CDMs are accessible to all customers. However, customers with disabilities may require additional assistance. We encourage customers who need support to seek help from someone they trust.

  • Can I deposit cash to my loan account using the CDM?

    No. Deposit to a loan account is not possible at the moment, however, we are working to enable the functionality.
